Washington Heights Academy is proud to celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of our students. This month we celebrate Hispanic Heritage. Students have been immersed in the study of Latin American history which culminated with our early childhood team putting together a wonderful art exhibit of student-crafted artifacts of the represented countries.
Students in each grade level created unique projects that correlated with the traditions of Latin American countries. Some projects included Colombian Molas and Guacamaya baskets, as well as Nazca lines and a representation of Machu Picchu which are both found in Peru. Our students went back in history to learn about the yearly carnival that happens in Dominican Republic and created “Diablos Cojuelos.” We are delighted to say "Happy Hispanic Heritage Month" to our school community.
